Let’s talk about something we all struggle with—throwing away meat we didn’t use in time. Whether it’s breakfast sausage or sliced deli meat, if it sits too long in the fridge, we end up tossing it…and basically throwing money in the trash. 💸
But not anymore! Here’s a super easy hack I use to freeze meat in smart portions and stop the waste before it happens.
🥩 The Smart Way to Freeze Meats Without Waste
So here’s what I do:
Next time you’re about to toss those used produce bags from the grocery store—don’t! Those little plastic veggie baggies can be repurposed into portion-sized wraps for meat.
-
✂️ Cut the bags into smaller sections depending on what you need.
-
🧑🍳 For breakfast sausage, I use small cuts since I usually only cook a few at a time.
-
🥪 For lunch meats, I cut slightly larger sections to wrap enough for a few sandwiches.
Then I wrap the meat in those small baggies and place them into a labeled freezer-safe Ziploc bag. Now, whenever I need a serving, I can just grab one portion and go!
💡 Why This Freezing Tip Works
✔ Saves Money – No more tossing half-used packs
✔ Saves Time – Pre-portioned, ready to cook
✔ Saves Space – Smaller packages fit neatly in the freezer
✔ Eco-Friendly – Reusing produce bags = less waste!
This small switch has helped me reduce food waste and keep more money in my wallet—and now it can help you too.
